Pentland Wholesale has added the Premium range of refrigerators and freezers to its growing Blizzard range of products.
In anticipation of the Ecodesign directive and a desire to minimise running costs, the project to design a totally new cabinet started in 2013 with the brief to produce an energy efficient product able to compete with the traditional high end brands at a much lower cost.
The cabinets run on hydrocarbon refrigerants and are rated A and B for the refrigerator and freezer respectively with kWh/annum of 299 and 1,065. The cabinets feature membrane style controller, with other features including high efficiency fans and compressors, LED internal lights, integrated shelf supports for easy cleaning (eliminate dirt traps), 85mm insulation and an embossed door and gasket designed to keep heat transfer to a minimum.
Based on an average electric tariff of 10p/kW, the typical running costs of the refrigerator are £29.90 per year and £106.50 per year for the freezer.
Pentland believes that utilising the latest technology, quality materials and manufacturing processes has resulted in an energy efficient product that will contest at all levels.
The wholesaler reported the pricing is competitive, while double door versions of both the refrigerator and freezer will be launched in Q2 2017 to complete the range.
