Oxford chippie stripped of kitchen equipment

A chip shop in Oxford was today being stripped of all its kitchen equipment following its closure last month.

Every item of catering equipment from Posh Fish is expected to be sold by 4pm this afternoon after agent ProAuctions yesterday held private viewings for prospective buyers.

The shop’s bespoke JJ Blackburn fish frying range — models of which are usually worth £30,000 — was attracting considerable interest, according to those handling the sale.

Items of equipment for sale include Infrico refrigerators and prep tables, Fagor refrigeration units, a Foster freezer, Zesto and Lincoln conveyor pizza ovens, BKI rotary ovens and various pieces from Lincat, including a griddle, bain marie and water boiler.

Mark Flynn of Pro Auction told the Oxford Mail the company had received interest from a variety of businesses in the UK and Europe.

“Fish frying ranges are very expensive and have to be purpose-built and can cost about £30,000,” he said.

“The equipment will all be taken out and then we expect the building will be put back on the market, ideally to be rented as a retail or food unit, which it already has a licence for.”

One buyer who travelled down from the West Midlands to view the kit yesterday said: “There were a few items, like the pizza-making bar and the work surface units, that I am interested in. It is not easy to get this equipment for good prices.”
