Anyone can nominate any relevant company (or individual for the Lifetime Achievement Award) in the UK catering equipment industry, including self-nominations – for any appropriate categories and you can nominate for as many awards as you wish. Nominees will always remain anonymous.

Once the deadline passes, the Catering Insight team will whittle down the entries to a shortlist, with the winners once again chosen by senior industry executives, with distributors voting for the supplier category winners and vice versa.

All the victors will be announced at the gala ceremony on Thursday 28 November at the Banking Hall, London, with the official After-Party taking place at the nearby Forge bar. To buy individual tickets or tables of 10, click HERE.

To help all potential nominators decide how they should judge who is worthy of nomination, we have put together the ultimate guide to each category, below:

Supplier categories

The supplier awards will showcase the innovation of manufacturers across the industry. The categories comprise:

Sustainability

The green agenda is amongst the top priorities of many a commercial kitchen project, and this award will highlight those catering equipment manufacturers and suppliers which are championing environmental product development and energy efficient products.

Service & Support

Once kit is sold, it is not the end of the manufacturer or supplier’s responsibilities to the distributor or end-user. This category will honour those companies which are investing seriously in after-sales and warranty support, and have delivered a superior service.

Light Equipment

From tableware to tupperware, food prep to thermometers, foodservice operations could not function without light equipment. This honour will reward a manufacturer who has created an innovative piece or range of light equipment which provides a step change for the industry.

Heavy Equipment, sponsored by Commercial Kitchen

Heavy equipment is at the heart of commercial kitchens, be it in the form of cooking equipment, refrigerators, warewashers or more. The winner will be whichever company is judged to have produced the most innovative heavy duty appliance for sale through the distributor channel over the past year.

Business Development

The business development award will recognise manufacturers or suppliers which have significantly developed their marketing or sales channels, establishing and progressing strong relationships with dealers, as well as providing added support or market development initiatives.

Training & Education, sponsored by CESA

The supplier training and education award will be aimed at those manufacturers who have invested extensively in education programmes for the benefit of the industry over the past 12 months. This could be for their own staff, dealers or the wider sector.

Distributor categories

The distributor awards will highlight distributors and dealers who have performed exceptionally over the past year. Categories consist of:

Distributor of the Year – South of the UK, sponsored by Hobart

This award will honour an outstanding dealer in the south of England or across Wales. This is a busy market, right from Pembrokeshire to East Anglia, and including the ever-competitive London market, so it will be close competition to see who has excelled as a business or overcome challenges to design and install incredible commercial kitchens.

Distributor of the Year – North of the UK, sponsored by Blue Seal

This distinction will be presented to a catering equipment dealer based anywhere from the Midlands northwards in England, and across Scotland and Northern Ireland, who shines in 2019. This could be due to going above and beyond the call of duty in terms of design, service and installation, or because of other commendable ways they have developed their business.

Distributor of the Year – Project Management, sponsored by Welbilt

With the diverse challenges that distributors can face in designing and installing kitchens, it takes a special firm to balance all the spinning plates simultaneously – and to a first-class standard. This award will recognise a company that stands out for delivering a very special project.

Distributor of the Year – Business Development, sponsored by Jestic Foodservice Equipment

This will celebrate those distributors which have significantly moved their business forwards over the last 12 months, whether by producing outstanding financial performance, investing in facilities, equipment or staff, or putting into place company-wide action plans which have brought hugely positive results.

Distributor of the Year – Marketing & Strategy

This award will honour distributors across the UK which have actioned innovative marketing campaigns to stay at the cutting edge of the industry, as well as those which have devised well thought-out, original strategies to maintain and further their market position going forwards.

Distributor of the Year – Corporate Social Responsibility, sponsored by DC Warewashing & Icemaking Systems

This accolade will recognise those UK dealers who are outstanding corporate citizens. This could be through their work to be efficient and environmentally aware, or demonstrating excellent health and safety standards, or for those who have thrown their backing behind important charitable initiatives.

Digital Initiative of the Year, sponsored by Hoshizaki

This category will honour a distributor, either traditional or online, who has really embraced the digital medium, whether it is for sales, service, technology, showcasing their capabilities or an innovative social media campaign. This can encompass everything from BIM, virtual reality technology, website design and function or utilising the Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn etc tools at their disposal.

Service & Maintenance Provider of the Year

Service and maintenance is absolutely critical in the world of catering equipment, and this category will reward those that are blazing a trail when it comes to repairing, maintaining and servicing kitchens. This award is open to both specialist service companies and distributors that operate dedicated service businesses.

Headline honours

Two special headline awards will be the crowning achievements for UK distributors and well-known catering equipment industry personalities.

Distributor of the Year – Nationwide, sponsored by Rational

This special honour will recognise a major distributor which has completed mammoth commercial kitchen projects to a high standard, up and down the country, while still offering a personalised, sterling service. The winner should be a truly national firm.

Lifetime Achievement Award

One outstanding individual will be presented with the lifetime achievement accolade – someone who has devoted their entire career to the catering equipment industry and excelled in their role.

The Catering Insight Awards is held in association with Cedabond.
