Gas safety equipment supplier S&S Northern has moved to larger premises to cope with the growth of its workforce — but it insists the expansion won’t stop there.
The company intends to recruit a further three apprentices to its team this year, bringing the number of staff that it employs to 12.
That will be made possible by its relocation to a new HQ in Chorley, which will be officially opened on Thursday 17 October by Northcote Group owner and chef Nigel Haworth, along with dignitaries from the local council.
S&S Northern was established in 1995 by Steve McMahon to manufacture gas safety equipment for commercial kitchens, laboratories and boiler houses in the UK. It also has an office and manufacturing facility in Essex.
With three new staff joining in the last two years, the company decided to move from the premises it has been in since 2008 to a 3,000 square foot site spread across four units.
McMahon said that the office move would allow it to continue its policy of investing in engineers.
“Recruiting apprentices really appeals to us because we need young people who can grow with the company and who we can train to do things the way we want to meet the needs of the business,” he said.
“The new ideas and input we have received from our apprentices has been second-to-none and their commitment, loyalty and support has been great. They bring new skills to the table which helps us to stay fresh and this has unquestionably helped us to maintain year-on-year growth.”
