Catering equipment supplier Nisbets has opened a showroom in Birmingham, its first outside of Bristol and London.
The store, located close to New Street Station and the Bullring Shopping Centre, has been set up to serve as both a trade counter for dealers and a retail location for members of the public.
Nisbets currently operates a giant flagship trade showroom in Bristol and the Pages store in London. It is thought that if the new Birmingham store proves a success it could pave the way for more openings.
Simon Godden, manager of the Birmingham store, which held a special VIP event at the end of last week to mark the launch, said Nisbets had received “really good feedback” during the first few days of trading.
Nisbets assessed the most popular lines from its other stores and website when choosing which products to stock in the Birmingham store. It features everything from clothing and chefs’ knives to crockery and refrigeration.
“We are stocking around 2,000 of our top products and will see where we go from there,” said Godden. “It depends on the feedback we get — we have got customer feedback forms so that people can say ‘why don’t you stock this’, so it is bound to change and we’ll get more in.”
The store currently employs five members of staff and is open six days a week between 9.30am and 5.30am.
Godden said the Saturday opening meant it was able to cater to walk-in retail trade.
