Nisbets blows open sous vide market with sub-£100 model


Nisbets has vowed to bring sous vide to the masses by unveiling its first ever water bath under the company’s own Buffalo label.

With sous vide now in vogue among many commercial caterers, Nisbets has launched a model aimed at customers seeking an affordable entry-level option.

Usual catalogue price for the product is £199.99 but visitors to Hotelympia this week have been able to order them for a special show price of £99.99 before VAT.

Heather Beattie, brand manager at Nisbets, told Catering Insight: “Sous vide is a popular thing now and this price point opens up its availability to a wider part of the market.”

The Buffalo sous vide water bath comes with a stirred 12.5-litre water tank and stainless steel body and lid, large LCD display screen and easy-to-use control.

Sous Vide has become an increasingly common method of preparing food for chefs. Cooking at a low temperature over a long period of time, in a vacuum, preserves nutrients in the food and enhances the flavour.
