Newco bags five-year university services contract


Newco Catering Equipment has strengthened its presence in the education sector by picking up a major catering equipment services contract with the University of Birmingham.

The Coventry-based outfit, which focuses on the Midlands area, will provide routine maintenance service visits and reactive breakdown work after beating a host of competitors to the contract.

The deal spans a combination of warewash, cooking and food preparation equipment across 16 separate campus sites.

“[The contract] is extremely important as it is an achievement just to be selected to submit a quotation in the first place, plus there is the added security for the company of a five-year contract,” said Janet Waters, director at Newco.

“We believe that securing this type of business demonstrates the quality of the company, and as far as we are concerned winning business is always a highlight.”

Newco provides commercial repairs and maintenance services to customers from a range of markets. The education sector makes up 30% of its business.
