New dealer teams up with Moffat for movable staff canteen

Recently-launched dealer, Elite Foodservice Design (EFD) of Lowestoft, was appointed to design and install a kitchen, servery and restaurant in a central Cambridge office block.

The new install was for a staff canteen for ARM, the global company that makes mobile phone components. However, ARM was planning to move into a new office block in 2 years – so everything needed to be able to move with it.

For the servery area, EFD went to Moffat and used mobile units from the company’s Versicarte range. The end result is said to have the upmarket looks of a bespoke, static counter.

EFD is run by Richard Todd, who founded the business in June and was previously owner of Catershop, which ceased trading earlier this year. On the subject of the Moffat units, he commented: “They look great and are essentially the standard units, with a bit of clever design added in, and we can easily move them when the company relocates.”

What EFD did was to butt the Versicartes together, using Moffat’s standard connectors, then add stainless steel plinths to cover the castors. The complete angled servery counter features a variety of different models, including a hot serve counter, salad counter and curved screen deli counter.

There are also an ambient condiments counter and a cash till station. The counter is complemented by a bright, vibrant servery area.

Versicarte counters can be used singly or butted together to form a straight or angled service counter.  The units are constructed mainly from stainless steel with a choice of fascia panels – EFD selected classic white.

Built for durability and ease of cleaning and maintenance, the Versicarte units have a bright polished stainless steel interior, heavy-duty rodded shelves and removable stainless steel sliding doors. The heated units have Moffat’s Sahara fan heating system, which is designed to maintain food quality and safety while ensuring energy efficiency.

Todd said: “Versicartes are reliable, cost effective and very practical. We’ve just installed them in a way that looks very upmarket.

“ARM’s servery counter is as smart as a bespoke unit and the client is delighted. Plus, of course, in 2 years’ time the whole lot can easily be fitted into the new office block as they are mobile units.”
