A team from recently-launched dealer, Boss Catering Equipment, has walked from Pendleside Hospice to Kendal to raise money for Pendleside Hospice.
MD Chris Clewes and office manager Jennifer James completed the 57.8-mile challenge (almost twice the length of a standard marathon) in 19 hours and 49 minutes on Friday 14 June.
So far the team have raised over £500 for the hospice, which provides care and support to people in the Burnley and Pendle area that have been diagnosed with a life-limiting illness. Care is provided free of charge to anyone that needs it either within the hospice building at Reedley, out in the community or within a patient’s own home.
The Boss team recruited further members to take on the hospice’s Corporate Challenge for 2019 from Towneley Run Club, which James founded.
She told local newspaper, the Burnley Express: “This is the first year we’ve officially signed up for the Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge and this is the first big fundraiser we’re hosting. We knew we wanted it to be a sponsored walk that would challenge everyone, so we picked a place that rhymed with Pendle and the rest is history.”
Christina Cope, head of corporate fundraising at Pendleside Hospice added: “A huge well done to the Pendle to Kendal walkers – to attempt this distance is incredible and it was great to wave them off from the front of the hospice.
“Boss Catering Equipment is a new team for this year’s Corporate Challenge, which officially launched at the start of June. It’s been really inspiring to hear about all the fundraising that’s in the pipeline over the summer months.”
