New company launches aspirational London venue

Camm and Hooper is to open the first in a series of planned venues in the capital. Launched in August 2012 Camm and Hooper is the latest bar/restaurant company financed by The Imbiba Partnership whose current investments include London based bar group Drake & Morgan and Darwin and Wallace.

Opening in close vicinity to The Shard in late May, Camm and Hooper’s inaugural venture, Tanner & Co, will offer a 100 cover restaurant and event space for up to 250 guests. Located in Bermondsey Street, Tanner & Co hopes to appeal to London’s growing foodie following while positioning itself as an aspirational event space for the creative and media industries.

According to Justin Saunders, director of food at Camm and Hooper, Tanner & Co will be kitted out with induction hobs, plancha grills and sous vide water baths as well as a Bradley Smoker oven.  “Tanner & Co has been designed to bring life to the cooking experience. We are currently finalising make and name of the kit, however, everything has been specified to bring theatre to our offering.”

The restaurant fit-out under the aegis of Russell Sage Studio, will use cutting edge design juxtaposed with up-cycled and rescued treasures. Vivid flashes of green will add impact to the space – including a specially commissioned super-size lime green leather chesterfield sofa, which will draw the eye to Tanner & Co’s spacious outdoor areas.

A contemporary take on comfort food will be order of the day with modern cooking techniques influencing traditional dishes. All charcuterie will be smoked, brined and cured in-house and the carvery trolley will make its welcome return alongside hanging skewers encouraging guests to make their own pies adding a bit of theatre to Saunders’ market fresh menus.

Claire Lawson managing director of Camm and Hooper says: “Tanner & Co will be a great addition to a destination that is prized for its world class restaurants. It will also represent the first in a series of event spaces that Camm and Hooper will be opening in the capital’s landmark locations. We have created a unique space and are challenging the norms by offering a very different service offering a menu concept for the lively events market.”
