New coldroom supplier enters UK market

Cold Store Distribution will be providing Misa coldrooms to the UK market.

The Cold Store Rentals group has set up a new company, Cold Store Distribution, to import Italian built Misa coldrooms to the UK.

A key driver in the new enterprise is UK sales director Kevin Raworth, who has 35 years’ experience of working with refrigeration systems including founding Norpe Viessmann supplier, NRL Refrigeration, in 2010.

A pre-set range of 14 optimum sizes (chillers with and without floors and freezers) forms the basis of the new trade supplier’s offer, although other sizes are available, including options for monoblock and split-system refrigeration units and shelving.

Cold Store Distribution says it is able to supply modular coldrooms within 1 week due to a large supply of the stock at its Hampshire based warehouse, with speed of delivery providing a key competitive advantage, according to Raworth.

He has previously worked for some of the biggest refrigerator manufacturers in Europe and has much experience in sales. When asked about what persuaded him to accept the role he said: “I have worked with Steve Prior, MD of Cold Store Rentals before, and I have been really impressed with the company, which I consider to be very progressive and innovative with an excellent reputation in the sector.

“The opportunity to work with Steve and fellow director Tom Scott and the chance to bring a new quality product and service to the trade sector was an easy decision, to be honest. Misa is a respected brand wholly owned by Epta Group and is recognised for the quality of its build, its proactive approach and the many benefits and positive features which are the hallmarks of its equipment.

“Steve, Tom and I have been impressed with the company’s research and development focus and close attention it gives to customer service. We believe this will provide us with extremely solid foundations on which to build.”

Unlike Cold Store Rentals, which specialises in both leasing long and medium-term rental and hire of coldrooms to the end user, Cold Store Distribution will sell purely to trade only, with a primary target market of refrigeration and catering equipment companies. It is the sole UK- and Ireland-based supplier of the Misa coldrooms range.

Raworth believes that one of the main challenges faced by the trade was the length of time it took from placing the order to delivery and installation. Cold Store Distribution reports it is able to deliver its coldrooms within 5 working days to anywhere in the UK.

Presently the company is exploring a partnership with a potential sub-contractor, which it is hoped will operate the CSD brand in Northern Ireland, opening up more of the domestic market.

Raworth continued: “An excellent quality of service, a speedy delivery and a professional installation are what matters most to businesses who need a cold store solution, quickly and with a minimum of fuss.

“We are able to offer a free site survey on behalf of distributors, visiting the end user client to make sure that the coldroom is of the appropriate size and will be situated in a location which is suitable to take the facility. We are also able to assess any access issues, which sometimes can be a problem, as well as providing a quote to the distributor for delivery and installation.”

Misa products are supplied with a 12 month warranty and the company will also hold spare parts in stock, and compliment the coldroom range with plug-in serveovers, under-counter bottle coolers and multidecks from stock.

The new business will be using technology to provide other services including an interactive website where trade customers can produce their own quotations and drawings. This should enable them to click on the various coldstore options to obtain a price, select refrigeration systems and shelving if required, with an additional option to request a drawing of the installation layout.

Cold Store Distribution was officially launched this month and is wholly owned by its parent company, Cold Store Rentals. MD Steve Prior together with director Tom Scott welcomed Raworth to the business and said: “We’re delighted to have Kevin as part of our team. He has an extensive knowledge of our industry and contacts as well as being hugely respected.

“Cold Store Distribution will add an exciting new dimension to our service offer; we feel that there is a real gap in the market, with trade customers frustrated by slow delivery, lengthy installation times and an inconsistent quality of service. This is a niche we intend to fill and satisfy those clients who are looking for excellence in every aspect: product, delivery, installation and long-term maintenance.”
