Host 2019’s exhibitor numbers are setting new records.

The Host trade show in Milan is continuing to set records, with almost 2,000 companies now set to exhibit at the Fieramilano on 18-22 October 2019.

The precise figure of 1,912 companies represents an 8% increase on the previous edition in 2017. Of these, 1,127 are Italian (+7%), with the remaining 785 representing 54 different countries (+10%) including for the first time Albania, Argentina, Colombia, Iran, Latvia and Lebanon.

Professional catering remains the best-represented sector at 43.94%, followed by the coffee/tea, bakery, ice cream and coffee machines/vending machines grouping, at 37%, and the tableware segment with 19.1%.

Plus all the key professional hospitality associations will attend, both Italian and international. The latter hail from the show’s main markets of reference: the UK and the USA, Spain and Latin America.

The international outlook of the Fieramilano show is further highlighted by the number of hosted buyers that will attend. Thanks also to a collaboration with ICE Agenzia, there will be more than 1,500 operators from 80 countries, with 80% turnover, coming mainly from the USA, Canada, the Middle East, UAE, China and Russia.

Visitors will be treated to what the show describes as a “real global kitchen”, where a menu of exhibitions and cookery demonstrations, samples and tasting pathways, round tables, and cook-offs between bakery maestros, award-winning chefs, baristas and designers will feature in what is one of the sector’s largest observatories in terms of trends and innovations.

Innovation will be particularly showcased by the Smart Label Host Innovation award, organised in collaboration with POLI.Design, a consortium of the Politecnico di Milano, and with the support of ADI – Italian Association for Industrial Design. The contest, which in its last three editions has awarded more than 150 prizes and 20 honourable mentions to key players in the Italian and international professional hospitality world, has set a new record by receiving 213 applications, compared to the 176 of the 2017 edition.

The six-member international jury of experienced university professors, professionals and national and international experts will vote on the degree of innovation and the smartest solutions presented by the competing companies. The panel will assess and select the candidate products, services and projects based on the following criteria: efficiency of product or service functions, effectiveness of products and ease of use of services, and innovative usability, technologies and benefits for users.

The winning appliances will then be displayed in a dedicated Smart Label area within the trade show.

Furthermore, the BeMyHost initiative will invite 20 ‘influencers’ selected from among key Ho.Re.Ca sector insiders, hailing from Italy, USA, Canada, Brazil, UAE, China, Japan, Australia, Spain and India, to capture the latest hospitality trends seen around the world. The same ambassadors will be present at the show, guests of Fieramilano, as they create real-time news reports covering the stands and events.

The events programme will comprise more than 500 entries, including company presentations, cookery demonstrations, and in-depth analysis and seminars providing the latest updates as to market evolution and the hottest topics of the day.
