The North American Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) has revealed the dates for its next trade show, after having to cancel this year’s edition.
The association confirmed that the event will return on 1-3 February 2023 at its usual venue, Orange County Convention Center in Florida. This will mark a 4-year break in the exhibition taking place by the time it comes around.
The 2021 edition, which had already been postponed from its original February date, was due to be held in a couple of weeks, on 26-28 August.
However, the event fell victim to Florida’s rising Covid case numbers, with local media outlets reporting that the Delta variant has seen 14-day rolling positivity rates rise from under 4% a month ago to nearly 19% last week.
NAFEM previously underlined that for those who booked hotel rooms through onPeak, their reservations have been cancelled for them.
The association has now affirmed that attendee registrations will be refunded in full by 3 September and a 100% refund on booth fees paid by exhibitors will be complete by 15 October.
In a statement, NAFEM’s board of directors said it had made the difficult decision to cancel the 3-day event in response to “rapidly changing circumstances caused by the pandemic”.
Rob Connelly, NAFEM president, and Henny Penny Corporation’s chairman and CEO, stated: “This is a disappointing decision, but one that prioritises the integrity of The NAFEM Show experience. We appreciate everyone’s support and look forward to being together again on 1-3 February 2023 in Orlando.”
