Missing £10k equipment pallet leaves Valentine baffled

Valentine Equipment is hoping somebody from the industry might be able to help it track down a batch of catering equipment that went missing on the last day of Hotelympia.

The manufacturer lost a full pallet of items during the stand breakdown process at ExCeL last month.

The pallet contained a number of tabletop fryers, an Evo 250 pump filtration fryer and five VBox hot cupboards, which had been shown for the first time at the show.

Collectively, the kit had a retail value of approximately £10,000.

Managing director, Bob Witherall, said it was not clear how the pallet had gone missing or where it had ended up.

“We finished the show and put all of our equipment onto seven marked pallets, but when the forwarder arrived the next morning there were only six pallets,” he explained. “So the loss happened between 19.30 on Thursday 1 May and 08.00 on the Friday.”

Witherall said that Hotelympia organisers Fresh Montgomery has contacted all fellow exhibitors for any information, but so far it had drawn a blank.

CCTV cameras at ExCeL have also been viewed, but the breakdown activity was so hectic that it was not able to see anything.

“I still would like to think it is sitting in someone’s stock room somewhere,” said Witherall.

Anybody with information that might help Valentine recover the missing pallet can email the company here.
