Middleby on acquisition trail with bakery buy

Middleby has maintained its acquisitive streak by snapping up the assets of Turkington, a specialist manufacturer of automated baking equipment.

Turkington, which like Middleby is based in the US, has been operating within the food service industry for more than 100 years.

Middleby confirmed the latest addition to its equipment stable earlier in the month, but did not reveal the purchase price.

“This acquisition further extends Middleby’s food processing platform, adding a comprehensive line of proofing ovens, baking ovens, and chilling systems for a variety of applications and baked goods,” stated Middleby CEO Selim Bassoul.

“The Turkington equipment provides for a superior bake at industry leading speeds. This acquisition is highly complementary to our Auto-Bake business and further enhances
Middleby’s overall food processing business,” he added.

Middleby has made a series of acquisitions over the past year to strengthen its food processing division, snapping up Maurer-Atmos, Danfotech, Drake and Armour Inox, in addition to Auto-Bake.
