The company behind a cavity liner that takes the pain out of cleaning microwaves has been boosted by an endorsement from one of the country’s top chefs.
Cavity Protection Systems, founded eight years ago by the team behind Regale Microwave Ovens, received the thumbs-up from Cyrus Todiwala, chef patron at Café Spice Namaste and Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen.
Todiwala said the product had become a vital addition to his kitchens: “The Cavity Liner is a simple, yet ingenious idea that essentially protects the interior of our microwaves, saving us time and money. It is easily removed, washed and replaced for next service, time and time again, avoiding any burnt food particles which can potentially cause scorched ceiling plates or cracked base plates.”
Regale directors Pat Bray and Barry Clark conceived the idea of a cavity liner after realising that most of the major problems experienced by end-users were linked to the lack of correct cleaning procedures.
They spotted that operators were taking up to 20 minutes to clean their microwaves, while those who didn’t do it thoroughly faced causing long-term damage to the microwave’s ceiling plate.
The liner they developed can be completely removed from the cavity and washed in a dishwasher. Since launching the concept in 2005, it has sold 10,000 units and developed versions to fit some of the most popular high powered commercial microwaves manufactured by brands such as Panasonic, Daewoo and Sharp.
