Colleagues may think it is inevitable that Ross Ryan will one day run commercial kitchen specialist Sprint Group. After all, the company was founded by his father David.
But this is not a case of parachuting into the boardroom. If Ross does make it to the very top, he will have achieved it thanks to an exceptional work ethic and passion for the business, and by learning everything about the company and the industry from the ground up.
Ross began working for his father 12 years ago at the age of 16 as a driver’s mate before moving into the office, running the service department. This gave him technical equipment knowledge that drew him towards AutoCAD design, and then working directly with clients to create bespoke commercial kitchens.
His current role sees Ross managing projects for some of Sprint’s major clients, which include Brasserie Blanc, White Brasserie Company, Bill’s, The Ivy Market Grill and many more.
His most complex project was The Ivy Chelsea Garden. The kitchen equipment had to be lowered into the basement and it took 3 months to develop the design with the restaurant’s director Mark Askew. Sprint also supplied the bar and patisserie counters and designed and supplied two bar areas to the outside garden area.
