Although he’s still young, Simon Neill is already making his mark at GastroNorth. Since being promoted from CAD Technician to Sales and Design Engineer in the last year, Simon has proven himself as a vital element of GastroNorth’s team.
After working on many projects with the rest of the team, he got his chance to shine when he took on his first solo project with Darlington College.
The £200,000 scheme required Simon to take charge of the design, estimating, quoting and project management from start to finish. After he carefully planned around the existing mechanical gas and plumbing services on site, plans were approved ready for the GastroNorth installation team accessing site for work commencement in January 2017.
Simon and the team had many obstacles to overcome, mainly surrounding existing services, infrastructure and canopy design but thanks to the team’s education sector and refurbishment experience, they were able to provide solutions without cutting corners.
His industry colleagues are very impressed with his performance, showing great composure and planning skills in overseeing multiple deliveries on site, coordinating sub-contractors and installation planning.
The final result turned out brilliantly and was a huge success with the college.
Now he has the experience of managing big projects, Simon is handling projects of all sizes in numerous market sectors as he continues to advance his skills and knowledge.
