Indigo Catering Equipment joint founder Christian Barnes is seeing his relatively young firm go from strength to strength.
He began his working career in stock broking firm, Kyte Group, before switching into catering equipment in 1999, joining South Coast Catering Equipment as Sales Director. After over 14 years there, he struck out with his colleague Andy Booth to start Indigo in September 2013.
Between the pair they have over 40 years of experience in the industry of creating kitchen services and solutions that minimise downtime for businesses and create futureproof, modern workspaces.
Christian and Andy ensure that their company offers a full service to clients with a focus on quality catering equipment as the basis of a good commercial kitchen. He has installed countless schemes over the years too, progressing from purely manual work to now offering project management and full reporting.
Seeing Indigo as a one stop shop for commercial kitchens, even setting up a building services division, Christian has ensured that he and his company can offer quality installations in short timeframes. One recent example of this was a scheme for a local university which had to be delivered in just 4 weeks. Working closely with a consultant, he led Indigo to perform a full turnkey fitout on time – including taking on the manufacture of counters when the distributor’s supplier could not complete the order.
This adaptability has clearly seen him deserving his place in this year’s Power List.
