Throughout 2018 Mechline supported the British Heart Foundation as part of its year-long ‘From Mechline with Love’ campaign and to celebrate 20 years of carrying the BSI Kitemark for its Dormont gas hoses.
Since last February it has been donating 10p for every gas hose sold to the British Heart Foundation, which raises money to research cures and treatments for heart and circulatory diseases. Mechline also put aside the money that would normally go on Christmas cards in order to present a cheque for over £5,000 to the charity.
The campaign has now drawn to a close and the supplier has praised the support it received from the industry throughout.
Mechline marketing manager Kristian Roberts commented: “When we reached our 20-year milestone, we realised through conversations with people that little was known about the combination of Dormont and Mechline that goes into creating our gas hoses. It’s been great to share just how comprehensive our manufacturing, build, testing and packing process is with our customers, whilst simultaneously raising money for such a deserving cause.
“Similarly unknown – at least to me – was that a staggering one in four people are killed by heart and circulatory diseases in the UK. Thank you to everyone who has purchased Dormont this year and helped support the British Heart Foundation.”
The foundation’s life-saving research has provided doctors with machines that can restart hearts, the capacity to fix arteries in tiny babies and the power to give someone a heart they weren’t born with. One recipient of such lifesaving research was Andrew Peers, who at only a few days old stopped breathing in his grandmother’s arms. Thankfully, he survived and is now 10 years old. Peers and his mother have recorded a thank you for Mechline and its customers here.
