Last week Mechline Developments received an award from UK standards body BSI in recognition of its 20 years of upholding the BSI Kitemark for Dormont gas hose connectors.
Mechline feels the award is a reflection of the time and dedication it has invested in the manufacturing and testing process, as it is the BSI Kitemark certification which signifies the presence of ongoing quality testing.
The accolade was presented by Graham McKay, global head of electrical and gas products, to Mechline’s MD Andrew Farrell at the supplier’s headquarters.
Dormont developed the first commercial catering gas hose and is now the most accredited gas hose brand in the world, with over 150m gas connectors installed.
What is somewhat unknown, is the combination of Dormont and Mechline to create the gas connectors.
In Milton Keynes, Mechline carries out all assembly of Dormont gas connectors to suit the UK’s own specific market and technical requirements, as well as testing the finished products. They are the only commercial gas hose to carry the BSI Kitemark, the symbol of continuous quality and safety.
Mechline feels it maintains a rigorous audit testing process at its factory in order to uphold the BSI Kitemark, meaning that every hose and quick disconnect is tested to the high specification set out by BSI [other gas hoses in the marketplace only comply with BS669 Part 2:1997, which indicates compliance of one sample on one test date, but is not monitored].
Farrell commented: “Mechline is proud to produce the only commercial kitemarked gas hose and to have sustained this for 20 years is a great achievement for us. We consider the time and dedication in the manufacturing and testing process simply too important and we want to continue to protect it.”
John Towersey, director of quality and process improvement at Mechline, added: “Not every gas connector is the same! Mechline’s Dormont gas hoses are of the highest quality design and construction, with proven recognised safety built-in as standard. Dormont gas hoses save time, money and preserve reputations.”
This year Mechline is donating every 10p for every gas hose sold to The British Heart Foundation, in order to celebrate 20 years of safeguarding the BSI Kitemark.
