Mechline has celebrated its double win at Catering Insight and Foodservice Equipment Journal’s Kitchen & Equipment Awards.
The Milton Keynes-based manufacturer triumphed in both the Supplier of the Year – Light Equipment and Supplier of the Year – Sustainability categories.
The former rewarded light equipment innovation, with Mechline garnering 53% of dealers and operators’ votes to become the runaway winner in the category.
Distributors lauded the firm for its introduction of the HyGenikx advanced and compact wall-mounted steriliser system, proven to eradicate viruses and bacteria throughout foodservice and hospitality. The firm subsequently extended the range with the launch of a fan assisted model.
The unit utilises a combination of the most effective air and surface sterilisation technologies available to produce superoxide ions and plasma quatro, which are proven to target and kill biological hazards in the kitchen.
Mechline also extended its line-up of BaSix hand wash stations with an all new range of space-saving, mobile, hands-free basins, including the portable ‘X’ model, providing double the washes per litre of any comparable product.
Marketing manager, Kristian Roberts, said: “HyGenikx is really making a significant difference in hygiene and safety for staff, customers and the environment. It quietly and safely goes about its business, and is so very effective.”
On the victory, he added: “It is extra special to know that we won the award through the votes of industry leaders. To get this recognition from the industry means so much to the Mechline team. It also confirms that the way we approach bringing new products to market is the correct way.”
In the sustainability category, Mechline recorded a similarly convincing win, with 51% of the vote. This accolade honours manufacturers that are championing environmental product development and energy efficient products.
Mechline’s suite of products to help with the ever-increasing environmental concerns of the foodservice industry includes the food waste bio-digester, Waste2O; the air and surface steriliser, HyGenikx; and an array of water-saving taps, pre-rinses and hand wash basins.
Tools that aid food waste prevention and reduction need to go hand in hand with treatment technology as part of a sustainable waste management system. Therefore Mechline has developed a Food Waste Reduction Programme (FWRP) with these principles in mind, to help educate distributors and end users. Supporting Mechline’s FWRP and Waste2O machine is an end-of-life food reporter, which helps site operators monitor how much end-of life food is being processed through their machine.
Roberts underlined: “It was incredible to win two awards. The announcements swept through the building and out to the team members who are currently working from home. There was a real buzz and a lot of pride being shown around the office. It has been a really difficult year for the industry and an achievement like this gives people something to celebrate in these current hard times.
“It is extra special to know that we won this award through the votes of industry leaders. To get this recognition from the industry means so much to the Mechline team. It also confirms that the way we approach bringing new products to market is the correct way.”
He concluded: “Sustainability plays a big role in our product development, so this award means a lot to us. When introducing a new product, we have key criteria, and we look to see how the new product will help with the ever-increasing environmental concerns of the foodservice industry. When introducing new products, you have to have a sense of responsibility and be sure you are introducing effective solutions for the environmental challenges we face.”
