C&C is marking an important employee milestone this month as Ian Berrow celebrates 30 years with the catering equipment company.
Berrow, who is currently the managing director of C&C Catering Engineers, joined the company as a full-time employee on 16 July 1984.
However, it was not his first encounter with the firm. After leaving school and beginning a career as an electrical contractor, he worked on site at many different commercial properties, installing electrical systems.
When an opportunity arose to hire its first service engineer, C&C’s founder, John Kitchin, offered Berrow the role and the support side of the business was born.
“I quickly had to get up to speed with all the equipment and complete lots of training courses and qualifications for my new role,” recalls Berrow. “It was hard work for those first few years but I realised this new career path had great potential and I was really enjoying the work.”
C&C’s service business grew under his leadership and in 1993 he was made the service director at C&C Catering Equipment. Five years later he became the MD of Catering Engineers (NW) Ltd, which C&C set up as a separate business. The business name was changed to C&C Catering Engineers in 2012 to emphasise the link between the two companies.
C&C Catering Equipment’s boss, Peter Kitchin, said: “It’s testament to Ian and his unwavering loyalty to C&C that the servicing side of the business is where it is today. As managing director of C&C Catering Engineers Ian has always had my full trust, confidence and support and I’d like to congratulate and thank him for 30 years of fantastic service, and I look forward to his continued dedication.”
