Marren Group has promoted technical manager Kane Needs to the role of technical director.
Needs was taken on by the company as an apprentice at the young age of 16 and after working his way up through the ranks, having just turned 30, he is now on the board.
His new director role sees him taking on responsibilities including making decisions on the company’s strategic objectives and policies and the types of equipment Marren maintains, as well as overseeing the transition phase for any new brands the company includes within its portfolio.
Needs will now also have a hand in recruiting and appointing senior management, and further promoting the success of the company.
This will be in addition to his existing duties including recruiting and managing the training of all Marren’s directly employed foodservice engineers across the UK; evaluating and overseeing the quality of the engineers work and identifying any training needs; and overseeing and managing engineer attendance and overall performance.
Malcolm Skinner, operations director, said: “This is an amazing achievement as Kane started as an apprentice with Marren 12 years ago and proves the point ‘if you are good enough you are old enough’. We wish him every success in his new role.”
While business development manager Kelly Barrell praised: “Kane is an absolute wealth of technical information and his passion and commitment to his job is outstanding.”
