Southampton-based ship interior refurbisher, Trimline, has won the Shippax Award for its transformation of ferries Spirit of Tasmania I & II.
The interiors and catering areas specialist completed the US$20m (£13.6m) refurbishment programme on both of TT-Line’s vessels last year.
Shippax’s judging panel gave the award to Trimline, alongside TT-Line, because of: “The impressive and successful refurbishment of the ships’ accommodations, resulting in a new travel experience.”
Trimline chairman Gary Oliver collected the award with colleague Neil Quinlan at the annual Shippax conference and were delighted with the win.
Oliver said: “Completing projects like this in and around Europe would have been difficult enough but to successfully complete them half way around the world speaks volumes for the team we have here.
“We were also lucky to be able to build a very close relationship with the designer and owner which meant that problems were dealt with quickly and efficiently.”
He added: “The award underlines our ethos of planning, dedication and high quality workmanship resulting in something truly wonderful, which we are all extremely proud of.
“The Shippax Awards are considered to be one of the most prestigious awards to win in our industry, although it has taken 50 years to win one I am confident this will not be the last!”
