Management change at TrakHupfer as MD calls time


TrakHupfer is preparing for life under new management after the retirement of Joe Coop, its long-serving managing director.

Coop, who has led the business for more than 25 years, departed the company this week, bringing down the curtain on a successful career at the helm of the Merseyside firm.

He was one of three co-founders who started Trak Conveyor Systems back in 1987, specialising in tray clearing conveyors and dishwashing equipment. In 1999 the company merged to become part of the Hupfer group of companies.

Coop wished the company well after announcing his retirement. “The time is now right for changes that will enable the company to move forward with a new management team,” he said.

TrakHupfer told Catering Insight that in the interim the business will be run by a team of three existing directors.

This includes production director David Coburn, finance director Debbie Bennett and sales director Sebastian Klane.

Meanwhile, the directors of Hupfer Metallwerke in Germany paid tribute to Coop’s achievements at the firm.

“Hupfer International thanks Joseph Coop for the work he has performed to date and for his tireless efforts for the company,” they stated.

“The board of directors and the staff thank him for his outstanding dedication and commitment with which he has led the company in all the years through ups and downs. We wish him well and all the best for this new chapter in life.”

During his time in charge, Coop oversaw the expansion of the company’s dishwash conveyor systems range and its launch into the food servery counter market seven years ago.

It now operates four distinct divisions: Conveyor Systems; Food Service Systems; Kitchen Logistics; and Medical Logistics.
