116 people braved bad weather to participate in Malcolm Ball’s memorial walk across the Cotswolds.

A massive 116 people, including many from the catering equipment industry, attended the memorial walk for Space Group’s Malcolm Ball last Saturday (23 November).

The distributor’s key account director sadly passed away in September from acute myeloid leukaemia.

In lieu of a funeral, his wishes were for a charity walk to be held in support of Sue Ryder Leckhampton Court Hospice.

Attendees braved a very wet and windy day in the Cotswolds to walk, run, stumble or hobble through the 14-mile course.

Space MD Ian Bidmead said: “Sue Ryder is an organisation that provided such amazing end of life care and support to our much-missed colleague, Malcolm Ball. In such sad circumstances, it was a very uplifting and emotional day for all who took part.”

He continued: “It shows just how much Malc was loved and respected by colleagues, family and friends across the industry by the sheer number of people that chose not to stay in bed on what was a truly miserable day, but get their walking boots and 1970’s wigs on, and do their bit in memory of a great guy.

“On behalf of Space, I’d like to say a massive thank you to all the suppliers who have supported this great cause, some of whom joined the walk, and many more that have donated. For any that haven’t, there is still time to make a donation here.”
