Maidaid’s Julian Lambert to retire

Julian-Lambert.jpg
Julian Lambert is to retire after 32 years in the catering equipment industry.

Julian Lambert, sales director of Maidaid Halcyon, is retiring after dedicating 32 years of service to the catering industry.

He joined the warewasher and icemaker supplier in 2000, following his earlier career path at Rowntree Snack Foods, Lockhart Catering Equipment in Reading and Wholesale Catering Equipment in Leicester.

During his time with Maidaid Halcyon, he has repeatedly broken sales records, firstly as an area sales manager and subsequently as sales director of the company.

His colleagues believe that this level of continuous success has been achieved by Lambert’s in-depth understanding of the company’s extensive product range, coupled with his efforts to understand the requirements of his customers. Maidaid Halcyon feels that Lambert has always been able offer invaluable advice on the best products for every application – both large and small.

His sales training sessions for distributors have become ‘the stuff of industry legend’. Over the years, Lambert has delivered the training in a humorous and enjoyable manner, whilst still imparting a high level of information and know-how to the attendees.

Chris Myhill, Maidaid Halcyon operations director, said: “Julian must be one of the most widely known and charismatic characters within the UK commercial catering industry. His approachability and his ability to deal with people at all levels within the catering industry has won him many friends, and he has been a huge asset to our business. He will be sorely missed by us all as a friend and colleague.”

Lambert said of his 19 years at Maidaid, that they have been the happiest of his working life. He thinks of the whole Maidaid team as family and will miss working alongside them every day.

However, he is looking forward to relaxing with his feet up in 2020 and also to taking a lot more holidays with wife Mandy, playing golf, and is even thinking about taking up fishing again.

  1. A super sad day for the industry as we lose another massive character, however a very happy day to see my great friend retire to enjoy the next stage of his life. One of the first contacts Ritchies made as we moved into equipment and nearly 20 years later, we still deal with Julian and Maidaid. A lovely man with a wicked sense of humour, not just a supplier but a truly dear friend. All the best White Hammer, it will not be the same without you. X
David Ritchie and all at Ritchies Ltd.

  7. So many nice things to say about Julian – Kim and I can only agree with the above. Julian became a dear friend and will be truly missed in the industry. However we can all be assured that he has left a very capable team to run the business just as Maidaid has run for years. You might make an under 20 handicap soon…. HaHa!!

  8. My mate Jules! He’s like a member of our family, always a pleasure to see him! One of the best in the industry! We will miss you but sure we’ll still see you around

  9. Well Julian your time has come. Another character dissapearing from our Industry. We have Known each other for so many years Julian, always a happy chappy & a pleasure to be around !! . You will be truly missed for your dedication to the business & our industry.

  10. I have to admit I think I will miss the old timer (but I wouldn’t if I had telescopic sights) – I have known Julian since his Wholesale days many many years ago, and he has become a personal friend. I believe Julian to be a major factor in my business taking off so well back at the turn of the centry (now that sounds a long time ago). I have not sold the quantitry of Maidaid Halcyon machines recently as I used to but Julian has always had the time to come and say hello whether that being at shows or in my office and he has always been welcome. Julian’s knowledge of the equipment and EVERYONE with in the industry is second to none and usually he only has nice thing to say about every one. Saying all that as Midshires Catering Equipment is just a few miles from his home in the East Midlands coupled with his experience, knowlege and great humour there will always be a job to cover all your great atributes for you here mate – In fact I will go out now and buy you that new broom so you can start your new career with the knowledge that it is still with its original head and handle waiting for you to work out how to use it – Have a great and long retirement and please please please do not be a stranger – I have a lincat waterboiler always on waiting for you pal.

    All the best pal

    Ian
