Maidaid shocked and saddened by sudden passing of Rob Wager

Hugely-respected sales director remembered by friends and colleagues for his passion, kindness and ability to bring positivity to any situation

Maidaid Halcyon has expressed its profound shock and sadness at the sudden and unexpected passing of its sales director Rob Wager.

Tributes have been pouring in for the deeply valued and highly respected member of the company and also the wider catering equipment industry since the news was announced earlier this week.

The company said in a statement: “Rob was more than a colleague. He was a dedicated professional who approached every task with passion, kindness, and unwavering respect. He also had a great sense of humour and knew how to bring positivity to any situation.

“Having worked within the commercial catering equipment industry throughout his professional career, Rob joined Maidaid in 2016 as its first national account manager.

“Following his promotion to sales director in 2020, Maidaid achieved significant growth and his contributions to our business and the industry will leave a lasting legacy.

“Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go out to Rob’s family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Group managing director, Oliver Booth, added: “Unassuming yet rightly proud of his many achievements, Rob touched the lives of all who knew him. A kind, caring, and generous man, he had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued.

“Whether offering a listening ear, providing unwavering support, or sharing a kind word, Rob’s selflessness and warmth will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rob will be deeply missed.”

Mr Wager spent more than 20 years in the warewashing equipment industry.

Prior to joining Maidaid he served at Dawson Foodservice Equipment, Meiko and Hobart, where he built up an extensive sales and technical understanding of the market.

Mr Wager recently collected an award on behalf of the company at the Catering Insight Awards in London last month. He said how special it was to receive the accolade given that it was voted for by the industry.

Tributes have been pouring in from the industry following the announcement on Maidaid’s LinkedIn page, which can be read HERE.
