Tim Keating has joined Maidaid Halcyon as an area sales manager.
He will be covering the West Midlands, North Wales, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Humberside and north of Lincolnshire and will look after all distributors that fall within this area.
Keating has many years of experience in the hospitality industry, first working as a second assistant store manager at a Kent branch of McDonald’s in the early 1990s.
Subsequently, he joined contract caterer Russell and Brand in roles such as chef manager for Maersk shipping in Canary Wharf, total facilities manager of R&B head office, and general manager of Leigh City Technology College.
Keating left contract catering in 1995 to join Peters Food Service as an area manager looking after all sales in London, Kent and Essex, and was then promoted to the new composite distribution division, heading up the London depot responsible for all food distribution for London, Kent and Essex. He moved to the Midlands in 1997 to establish composite distribution for the Midlands. Eventually the firm was taken over by Brake Brothers and Keating was promoted to national food service contracts manager and then into the hotels division as a national accounts manager.
In the catering equipment sector, he joined Hobart as a regional sales manager in 2006, being promoted to regional catering specialist in 2008 to 2010. After brief spells working with Acold Sifa in Nottingham and Francis Catering, Keating set up and ran his own catering equipment dealership, Pico Catering Projects, from 2010-2018.
He then had further stints at other dealers, firstly Swift Maintenance as National Sales and Projects Manager from November 2018 to March 2020, followed by nearly a year at CDS Wilman as a senior national account manager, but was a casualty of Covid-led redundancy.
Since the beginning of this year, Keating has been at servicing specialist R&S Services (Yorkshire) as business development manager, before departing in June to take up his new role at Maidaid.
The warewasher supplier’s sales director Robert Wager commented: “We are thrilled at the appointment of Tim and welcome him to the Maidaid team.
“Tim has vast experience through the catering industry working for manufacturers and distributors; we feel he is a great fit for the business.”
