Bunzl UK has announced that with immediate effect its Continental Chef Supplies (CCS) business will now be managed as part of Bunzl Lockhart Catering Equipment. Both companies are part of the Bunzl group.
Light equipment specialist CCS will continue to operate from its current head office and warehouse at Peterlee but the overall business will now report into Lockhart’s MD Steve Montgomery. Simon Wright, CCS head of sales will continue to head up the sales and customer service teams.
Commenting on the decision Matt Johnson, MD of Bunzl’s Catering and Hospitality division, said: “Following a thorough strategic review of CCS we have decided that there is now a real opportunity to significantly strengthen its overall proposition and the value it can deliver to its customers.
“CCS is a great business with a strong customer service focus but we feel it could really benefit from the fantastic capabilities that Lockhart can bring in terms of product and marketing expertise. This will enable CCS to leverage Lockhart’s proven track record in a number of key areas and I think this can be a real win-win for both businesses.”
He added: “I would like to assure customers and suppliers alike that we remain fully committed to both the continued development of the CCS business and its spiritual home in Peterlee. In addition, the showroom in Baker Street, London will remain an integral part of the CCS offering and we look forward to welcoming new visitors to see the huge range of products on display.
“This change will help to secure a very positive long-term future for this well-respected business. We are also carrying out an extensive consultation exercise with all our colleagues at CCS to ensure that the transfer of management responsibility to Lockhart is done as quickly and professionally as possible and with the minimum of disruption.”
Montgomery further commented: “I am really excited about this opportunity. CCS is a fantastic business with really great people who are clearly very passionate about the company and the customers they serve.
“I am firmly convinced that if we can combine that enthusiasm and commitment with some of the tremendous capabilities that Lockhart have now developed around innovation and marketing then we can really strengthen the overall CCS proposition and help it to deliver sustained sales growth going forward.”
CCS provides tableware, light equipment, pastry equipment and knives, with brands including Jars Ceramics from France, 1265 Degrees North and Studio William from the UK, Cookplay from Spain, and Zieher from Germany.
