Two of pizza equipment specialists LLK’s customers, Elliott’s Craft Pizza of Ripponden and the Foundry Project of Manchester, have been selected as finalists competing at the National Pizza Awards, which is to be held on Thursday 7 November at Islington Metal Works in London.
LLK collaborated with distributor YCE Catering Equipment to provide the Foundry Project with its Cuppone Giotto oven for cooking pizzas in the venue’s open kitchen. The Cuppone Paolo oven was selected by another of LLK’s Yorkshire-based distributors, GBT Catering Equipment Suppliers, to cook Elliott’s Craft Pizza’s offering.
For the second year running, LLK is the official oven sponsor of the National Pizza Awards and will be backing the event with two Cuppone Donatello+ ovens for competitors to cook in, which will be imported from Italy for the occasion. The Donatello+ has been specifically selected for the competition by LLK’s development chef, Fabio Aurelio, as it is designed to feature quick heat up times, eco-friendliness and precise controllability.
The awards will see pizzaiolos from across the nation competing in a series of live cooking rounds for the chance to snatch the title of ‘Pizza Chef of the Year’ and win a £1,000 prize.
Contenders will tackle the Technical Round which will see them create a pizza using only the ingredients chosen by the event’s sponsors. Creativity is required for the pizzaiolos to have their creation crowned ‘Pizza of the Year 2019’, a round which will be judged by LLK’s Aurelio.
Commercial director of LLK, Jenna Lewis commented: “We’re thrilled that our Cuppone ovens have proved their ability to power pizza operations to success. These ovens are some of the highest quality on the market and produce truly prizeworthy pizzas.
“We wish Foundry Project, Elliott’s Craft Pizza, and every one of the finalists the best of the luck in the competition; we know the Cuppone Donatello oven will do their pizza-making talents justice.”
