Oldham-based catering equipment supplier, Linda Lewis Kitchens (LLK) will be defending the title of a local business accolade the firm won last year.

The company has been announced on the shortlist once again for the Oldham Business Awards’ ‘Business of the Year £1-5m’ category.

LLK has now made the finalist position four times, winning the awards three times in total in various categories including Businesswoman of the Year and Supporting Young People as well as scooping the ‘Business of the Year £1-5m’ trophy in 2018.

This year the company’s competition includes A-C Tyres and Precision Pallets who are well known in the Oldham area and beyond in their respective industries.

LLK feels it was selected as a finalist for its continued success as one of many thriving businesses in Oldham and for its commitment to developing its staff, 13 of which are born and bred in the borough.

Over the past 3 years, the supplier has doubled in size, hiring talent from all around the Oldham area in departments that have seen swift growth. For example, its spares division has seen a 60% increase this year alone and LLK is on course to smash its £3m target, despite economic struggles as a result of Brexit.

In addition, LLK has seen a boost in sales since it launched its fully-operational demonstration site in Oldham, where dealers can bring their customers to trial their equipment before purchase. This has been instrumental in helping to secure big contracts for several dealers throughout the UK.

As an equal opportunity employer, LLK has ensured its staff develop, enlisting team members from all departments on a range of training courses to boost their knowledge in the world of work. This was highlighted in LLK’s awards nomination and something that the judges that attended LLK were keen to hear more about.

MD Linda Lewis commented: “We are extremely proud to be named as finalists once again at The Oldham Business awards, it is extremely humbling to be selected from so many great businesses that are thriving in our hometown.”

Marketing and events manager Grace Carr added: “Over the past year we have seen phenomenal growth in the business and the team absolutely deserves recognition for working as hard as they do. Every member of the team is extremely passionate about what we do. Both our fingers and toes are crossed for another award.”

The winners of the awards will be announced on Friday 12 May at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Oldham.
