Lincat has assumed full responsibility for the design, manufacture, technical support, sales and marketing of FriFri high specification electric fryers.
The business was officially transferred to the Lincoln-based manufacturer from its current base in Italy yesterday.
Although the FriFri brand is not widely known in the UK, Lincat insists the fryers are recognised throughout the rest of the world for their extremely high specification.
“It’s a huge vote in confidence, not just in our design and manufacturing skills but also in our sales, marketing and after-sales support, that our parent company, the Middleby Corporation, has decided to move its multimillion pound FriFri business to Lincat”, said Steve Mitchell, managing director of Lincat.
FriFri fryers claim to offer maximum output from a minimum of floor space and extend the life of cooking oil. The range includes freestanding, built-in and counter-top models, together with a wide collection of associated products.
“FriFri’s established following worldwide will change the shape of our business, as export becomes a stronger focus,” continued Mitchell. “This in turn will help to promote our complementary ranges of Lincat equipment overseas. In addition we’ll also be doing everything we can to raise awareness of FriFri here in the UK.”
Lincat has been gearing up for the move by increasing its supply of components and building up stock of the most popular FriFri models. A dedicated cell has also been set up where the FriFri brand will be manufactured.
FriFri is a Swiss company that was subsequently acquired by its compatriot Franke. The business was snapped up by Middleby three years ago.
