Lincat dispatches over 70,000 items a year from its HQ in Lincoln.

British manufacturer Lincat is marking its 50th year in business, after beginning life in 1971 selling a range of light-duty, back bar equipment known as Lynx.

Fast forward 50 years and the Lincat portfolio now includes over 2,150 products. All equipment is manufactured at the company’s purpose-built factory based in Lincoln, UK.

The manufacturer has a focus on true manufacturing, (there is no sub-assembly) the factory today operates 24/7 with a team of over 200 operatives. Lincat feels that the 2-year parts and labour warranty on all equipment is testament to the quality and confidence the brand has in its products.

The Lincat factory operates on a 24/7 basis and employs 200 workers.

The firm’s export capabilities have massively expanded from the occasional van full of equipment being sent to the Netherlands, which was home to Lincat’s first export customer. In 2020, Lincat dispatched over 70,000 pieces of equipment to all four corners of the globe. Now active in over 85 countries across Europe, Asia, USA, India, Africa and the Middle East, today Lincat has a strong network of trusted partners.

With such a vast portfolio, Lincat works with customers in many different sectors including the public sector, fast casual concepts and QSRs. Whatever challenges any particular kitchen faces, the eight-strong culinary team can recommend a solution.

The growth of the product portfolio is both due to the acquisition of brands, which today includes FriFri, the Imperial Machine Company (IMC) and Britannia Kitchen Ventilation, and organic growth from new product development. Starting with two engineers in 1971, the R&D team has nine members today and continues to expand.

UK group MD of Middleby Commercial Foodservice, Chris Jones, praised: “The size of the R&D team and their ‘can do’ attitude enables Lincat to react quickly to client need, developing solutions to solve operational challenges. This has resulted in the development of many products for well-known brands over the last few years.

“‘Starting with the end in mind’ is the Lincat mantra and the journey begins with end user engagement in the development of all new products. This, married with the pioneering minds of the R&D team and expertise of the culinary team, is the perfect recipe for success.

Cibo is among the product ranges that Lincat will expand this year.

“A great example is the popular Cibo innovative fast oven with patented technology which was launched in 2019. The team has now taken this technology to the next level and there are some fantastic new additions to the portfolio coming later this year.”

Lincat has hinted that a ‘Middleby 1 Solution’ will be coming soon. This will see the manufacturer teaming up with sister company Middleby UK to deliver a ‘culinary-driven, industry-leading’ experience across all Middleby brands in the UK.
