The recently launched environmental division of a catering equipment industry supplier is closing in on its first UK location for the EnviroPure EPW food waste disposal system.
First Choice Environmental Solutions is hoping that a recent installation at the Statue of Liberty will point the way for the UK catering industry to invest in the EnviroPure system.
The unit provides a bespoke, on-site solution, through the break down and elimination of all food waste including bone and fibrous materials, where it’s generated. Designed to virtually eliminate all FOGs, (fats, oils and grease) inside 24 hours, the system produces safe grey water that can be sent to drain, or even used to irrigate grassed or planted areas (not crops).
A range of models offer operators the ability to handle levels of waste from 54-6,000kg a day. The system uses a proprietary blend of natural organic nutrients, containing no enzymes, that reacts with the naturally-occurring bacteria in food waste to increase the metabolic efficiency of decomposition.
Units are fully sealed so there’s no odour and can be used as stand-alone systems, or be fed from other locations to provide a fully integrated, location wide system with a central unit taking waste from wash up and food preparation areas, or even multiple kitchens.
The EPW system received the 2014 Innovations Award from the Asia Pacific division of FCSI, where it was praised by the judges for revolutionising food waste handling and for being economically smart and environmentally beneficial.
The Enviropure EPW system has already been fitted in a wide range of catering facilities throughout North America, including ecologically sensitive locations as Niagara Falls.
