Cumbria-based distributor, Lakes Catering Maintenance, has welcomed Richard Dey to its team as productivity manager.
The company had originally planned to focus on developing engagement, training and support this year, and in January created the new role specifically to develop people, create an environment for personal development and an effective engaged team.
However, with the Covid disruption, it took extra time to find the best candidate, which Lakes believes it has now done with Dey’s appointment.
He brings 30 years of experience in the industry and his engineering knowledge extends to team leadership, communication, and personal development.
The distributor’s MD, Leigh Howard, said: “Richard will be managing the engineers supporting them daily and managing our productivity. He will be introducing bespoke training and development plans that will support our team to grow in confidence, knowledge, and expertise. This will keep us ahead of changes and innovations within the industry, in a safe and engaged environment.
“Richard’s role will be key in delivering ongoing Covid-19-secure ways of working ensuring both our team and customers stay safe. We’ll hold onto practices around remote working and reduced contact with each other, benefiting from reduced travel and a more independent way of working.
“Richard’s role will also include reaching out to our customer base, to develop our understanding of what they need from us and how we can support them to survive, adapt and innovate in the new normal.
“As much as I expect the next few years to be a challenge, I firmly believe that if you have the right team around, with a shared goal, then you’re set up to win.”
