Surrey Heath Borough Council’s Executive has approved proposals for a kitchen upgrade at Camberley Theatre.
The new facilities will include a high-power electric oven, 12 gas hobs, microwave, food preparation area plus a new ventilation and extraction system.
The upgraded catering equipment will complement the theatre’s existing room hire options, which can be used for a variety of events and functions, seven days a week.
Past events at the venue have included community feasts, birthday and anniversary parties, wedding receptions, dinner functions and award ceremonies.
Surrey Heath Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Culture and Community Cllr Rebecca Jennings-Evans said: “I am delighted that Surrey Heath Borough Council have taken the steps to refurbish the kitchen at Camberley Theatre, to improve the facility and make it safe for community groups to hire.
“Our regular community hirers, such as the Camberley Sikh Association, will make full use of the kitchen in the future.”
The council and theatre secured funding for the project.
