Kitchen fire destroys part of Sussex hotel

A basement kitchen is said to be the source of a fire that spread through two floors of the Alexander House Hotel and Utopia Spa in Turners Hill, Sussex on Wednesday.

The precise cause of the fire is still under investigation, with a West Sussex Fire and Rescue spokesperson telling the Mid Sussex Times that 30 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire, which damaged 70% of the kitchen and spread to the ground floor.

The kitchen area was also 30% damaged by smoke, while the ground floor had 5% fire damage and 40% smoke damage.
