Kitchen build for Dudley Canal Trust visitor centre

The Dudley Canal Trust is building a state-of-the-art visitor centre that will include a central production kitchen to allow it to provide a range of on-site catering services.

Dudley Canal Trust (Trips) Limited is currently inviting expressions of interest for the provision of ‘hospitality and catering services’ for the facilities at the centre, which will be called ‘The Portal’.

The building will have a central kitchen area with associated staff facilities and toilets.

The kitchens are sized to provide catering services into two main areas: a primary seating area open during the day and a secondary area for events and functions.

As it is a new build there is no incumbent caterer. The expected contract start date is spring 2015.

The tender process for caterers wishing to register their interest is being managed by FCSI consultancy Radford Chancellor Ltd.

The Dudley Canal Trust was created in 1970 to protect and preserve the tunnels and canals. It runs regular guided boat trips through the tunnels, accompanied by videos, lifelike reconstructions and music and light shows.
