A specialist in drainage and water treatment is bringing its expertise to the commercial kitchen market as food waste becomes a greater challenge for foodservice operators.
Kingspan Environmental has been exhibiting at the Hospitality Show this week, where its iFOG system has been a focal point for the company.
iFOG uses naturally-occurring micro-organisms to eat the fat, oil and grease which builds up in kitchen drains. It can reduce drain unblocking and grease trap emptying costs by up to 75% a year, according to the firm.
Additionally, the Portadown-based outfit is a UK & Ireland distributor of Mechline’s Waste 2O system, which has also featured prominently on its stand.
Kingspan’s marketing manager, Melanie Talbot, told Catering Insight the company now has the capability to provide a full waste management solution for commercial foodservice businesses.
She added that the company’s stand, which is located within the CESA Innovation Zone, has seen a strong level of traffic.
“The show has been good and the first couple of days have been very promising,” she said. “We have seen a diverse range of people coming through, including hospitals, restauranteurs and caterers.”
