Footballing legend Kevin Keegan was on hand at last night’s ENSE Conference gala dinner to dole out gongs to successful member dealers and suppliers of the buying consortium.

The event, which numbered over 200 attendees at the Hilton London Wembley hotel, saw seven accolades won, as well as an after dinner speech from Keegan on his career.

Chief among the winners was Distributor of the Year, Inox Equip, an award which was voted for by ENSE suppliers themselves. The dealer supported over 55% of suppliers and grew its business with these companies by 45%.

The Directors Award, also voted on by suppliers, was claimed by Fulcrum Commercial Kitchens for the second time, as it too supported over 55% of suppliers and grew its business with them by 78%.

Furthermore, YCE Catering Equipment triumphed in the Distributor Newcomer of the Year category, supporting over 57% of the group’s suppliers in its first year as a member, the equivalent of more than £1m of business.

The Training Champion accolade went to Fatboys Catering Equipment, as the distributor sent the most people to ENSE training sessions throughout last year.

On the supplier side, it was another good night for Maidaid Halcyon, which added the Capital Equipment Supplier of the Year title to its Catering Insight Training & Education Award from 2016, with both accolades being voted for by dealers. Maidaid sold to over 85% of ENSE distributors and was in the top 10 of the group’s suppliers for 2016.

Another distributor-voted category, the Light Equipment Supplier of the Year, went to EAIS for the second consecutive year. The storage equipment specialist sold to over 75% of the distributor members and was a top 15 supplier.

Finally, the Supplier Newcomer of the Year gong went to E&R Moffat, which clearly made a splash with ENSE distributors in its first full year of membership.

Earlier in the day, ENSE members celebrated the buying group’s fifth anniversary, with the consortium achieving significant growth due to the commitment of both distributor and supplier members, many of whom have been a part of the group since its inception.

ENSE UK sales director, Robin McKnight, commented: “There is no abiding success without commitment, and a testament to this is the fact that ENSE has 18 distributor members, as well as eight supplier members who have achieved more than 50% turnover growth through the group.”

The distributor members who achieved this level of growth were: ABDA Design, Bournville Catering, Catering Centre UK, CES/Cookco, Contiquip, Cooksmill, Crosbys, Eileen Say, Fulcrum Commercial Kitchens, GastroNorth, Inspire Kitchens, KCCJ, KCM, Klaremont, Marshalls, Qube, Utensils and Wards of York.

The supplier members who achieved this growth were: CEP, Charvet, Corsair, Environmental Products and Services, Linda Lewis Kitchens, MCS Technical Products, Mileta Signs and Victor Manufacturing.

McKnight concluded: “ENSE as an organisation engenders a collaborative approach to our market and when you combine this with the bi-annual conferences, brochures featuring all supplier members and customised for the distributors and training events throughout the year, then it is no surprise that ENSE continues to achieve such growth.”
