Keith Elkington Transport has added cleaning and equipment servicing facilities to its catering equipment transport business.

MD Oli Elkington detailed: “Our decision to introduce these two new services came following heightened demand from our customers.

“We now provide the most comprehensive set of removal and assistance services for manufacturers, design houses and catering equipment distributors in the UK.”

The logistics firm has employed two full time cleaning staff and can undertake stripping out of equipment, removal, comprehensive cleaning, servicing including gas safety testing and the provision of spare parts.

Equipment can be stored as necessary and, finally, re-delivered.

“Equipment is photographed and its condition documented during all key stages,” continued Elkington.

“We looked long and hard to find the right people and have sourced two excellent staff who work with our management to provide a high quality, consistent service.”

Meiko UK is already pleased with the service. Elkington’s collected heavily soiled used equipment from Meiko’s warehouse in Slough and moved it to Milton Keynes where they undertook the deep cleaning and servicing of all equipment, before packing and labelling for transport.

This job was to help the AVDH Paris-based charity supported by Meiko UK and a number of like-minded distributors and Meiko customers.

Elkington’s transported two truckloads of second-hand catering equipment from Milton Keynes to the charity’s kitchens in Cergy-Pontoise on the outskirts of Paris.

Equipment for this delivery was donated by Court Catering Equipment and the Lensbury Club in Teddington.

“Not only was the equipment cleaned to perfection, but it was serviced and parts replaced where needed.

“All equipment was individually bubble wrapped and provided with a reference number that doubled as the transport manifest, which will simplify the work of the charity when it comes to distributing the individual appliances to the various kitchens that prepare food for refugees and for the volunteers.

“Previously Meiko would bring in contract cleaners when deep cleaning was needed, source any required parts needed and then have one of our engineers fit the parts and our logistics team would ready the goods for collection.

“But with this new service from Elkington’s, all of these disciplines have been rolled into one easy to manage process and I would recommend this service to any kitchen house that has to remove, clean, service and re-install commercial kitchen equipment.”
