The boss of Newport kitchen house Shine Food Machinery is in the process of launching a new company manufacturing a premium range of fabricated counters.
Julian Shine has set up Hyginox UK after forming an exclusive UK and Ireland partnership with Italian stainless steel production specialist Steelnovo.
Shine founded the business after spotting a gap in the market for high-end fabrication that adheres to the greatest standards of cleanliness.
The business will operate completely independently from Shine Food Machinery, which Shine will continue to manage.
He says Hyginox is the first commercially viable H2 hygiene specification compliant stainless steel counter fabrication in the UK.
“We believe that there will be a push in foodsevice for the raising and tightening of European standards and as the H2 DIN standard is the only recognised one in Europe for this type of cabinetry at the moment it is probably going to be that which leads the way.”
Modular counters and cabinets will be built at Steelnovo’s Italian factory, but Hyginox is investing in its own manufacturing facilities to provide bespoke services locally.
The product is ideally suited for pharmaceutical, medical, veterinary, engineering, food, drink and meat processing, as well as high-end dining establishments, Shine said.
The company is now meeting with consultants to discuss the product’s benefits, as specification through consultant-led projects is likely to hold the key to its market adoption.
“It is a fantastic product and the consultants that have looked at it so far have been extremely impressed with it,” said Shine.
Hyginox UK is initially starting out with three employees, including Shine, but he is hoping that once the product becomes more established in the market Hyginox UK will be in a position to bring on more representatives so that he can retain focus on Shine Food Machinery.
