JLA sees room for growth in warewashing

Acquisitive catering and laundry group JLA is planning a big push on its commercial dishwasher offering during Hotelympia, it has revealed.

The company created a dedicated warewashing division selling own-label machines back in 2012, but it has taken on greater significance following last year’s launch of a catering arm and the subsequent acquisitions of several kitchen houses, including the Carford Group.

Yorkshire-based JLA will be looking to educate customers on the commercial warewashing options available to them, especially those from businesses that have previously made do with domestic machines or manual cleaning.

Katie Horan, catering product manager at JLA, says it will be stressing to customers that the right model can guarantee that pots, pans and plates are not only cleaned but disinfected too.

“The Food Standards Agency insists on an 80°C rinse for 15 seconds, and the best way to satisfy this is to have a LED or LCD display that shows the temperature in real-time as a cycle progresses,” she says.

“Our own thermal disinfection model is easy to use and has been developed to deliver the highest levels of performance at the touch of a button. In domestic sizes, they offer quick one minute washes for speed, or decontamination in as little as 13 minutes.”

JLA’s dishwashers are available to customers through its Total Care package, which offers machines with inclusive 7-day breakdown cover and a 24/7 helpline.

Total Care includes an eight-working hour engineer response guarantee that sees customers paid £100 if an engineer is not on-site in that time, as well as a promise of no repair bills.
