Reigate-based distributor JDS Catering Equipment is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the company’s establishment this month.
Directors Nigel Quince and John Spiers celebrated with a meal and raised a glass to the milestone.
Quince said: “We have lasted 30 years by being cautious on most of our decisions and building the company and customer base over many years.
“Our company moto is that we are a local company looking after our local customers.”
Spiers established the business in 1990 and slowly started to build it, with Quince joining 10 years later.
Quince reflected: “Over the next 20 years we homed our project management skills and built the service side, securing as many service contracts as possible.
“Over the years we have seen many catering equipment companies start up and go; it can be a brutal environment if you haven’t the stomach for it. We always say it’s more of a marathon than a sprint.”
He continued: “John and I have noticed many changes over the years from draftsmen to CAD from letters to emails and the development of catering equipment from around the world – sometimes we wonder what will come next.
“We have built a strong company which has performed really well through Covid 19 due to our depth of customer base.
“JDS Catering Equipment has been a proud member of Cedabond and CEDA for many years and has also gained immense knowledge from being a part of these organisations.”
As for how the company will progress in the future, Quince hinted: “We have been looking at our exit strategy and have a few different options from selling the company, merging with another catering equipment company or development from within.”
