Commercial catering equipment distributor, JD Catering, has struck a deal to offer repair and maintenance of commercial catering motors.
The firm has taken over a company in Northern Ireland, where it is based, called Cookstown Rewinds, which specialises in motor maintenance.
JD Catering plans to stream line the operation over the coming months and then be in a position to offer the service UK wide over the next six months.
Jason Currie, managing director, commented: “Having worked with Cookstown Rewinds for several years on the repair of all our commercial catering motors, the opportunity arose to bring it under our wing.
“With more technology and motors being manufactured in catering equipment and the customer need for fast repair turn around, we decided to bring this under our control and help our service side become more reactive and productive.”
The distributor launched a sister venture earlier this year called SpaceBank to store catering equipment.
Currie identified a gap in the Irish market and said it was getting enquiries from customers who lack the space to store any equipment which they are not using but didn’t want to dispose of.
He said the solution was useful during fitouts, when equipment needs storing temporarily.
