Inox Equip director Mark Kendall has stepped down from his role, which also means that he cannot currently perform his duties as current CEDA chairman.
The association’s director general Adam Mason confirmed to Catering Insight: “As Mark is not currently a senior representative of a CEDA member, he is unable to continue as chair.
“The plan in these cases is for the immediate past chair to assume the role, which the board has approved. Therefore Jack Sharkey has returned as chairman, pending the outcome and resolution of Mark’s future.
“We reacted swiftly as we need a figurehead for the association. This is a typical process and it is business as usual at CEDA; our objectives have not changed.”
Mason detailed that whether Kendall steps into another role at a CEDA distributor will determine whether there can be a discussion about him returning as chairman.
Both the southern and northern region boards have been informed of the development and offered further support if necessary.
Mason added: “Mark’s role is important and he has been a great chairman, but we have been very much supported by the board throughout too.”
It is not currently known why Kendall has resigned from Inox Equip. Catering Insight has so far been unable to obtain comment from him or the Buckingham-based distributor.
