Construction giant ISG has confirmed that Kitchequip has been appointed as the kitchen contractor for the catering component of a bumper £6m redevelopment project it recently secured at Trafford College.
ISG has been given the task of redeveloping the Manchester college’s Talbot Road Campus, along with an additional £200,000 scheme at the college’s Altrincham campus to provide staff rooms during the works.
The scheme involves a three-phase programme with sectional completion dates leading up to project handover in September 2013, ready for the new academic year.
Southport-based Kitchequip is set to have a major role to play in the first phase of the project, which involves remodelling and reconfiguring the ground floor of the existing building to create open plan areas, with a new main reception and coffee bar.
The existing hall will also be converted into a new dining room and kitchen, enabling the current dining facilities to be demolished to clear part of the site to accommodate an extension.
ISG’s managing director for the north west, said: “It will be a challenging project with extensive structural changes to the building and a tightly managed programme to allow successive phases to progress but, once completed, will transform teaching facilities for students and staff alike.”
ISG did not break out the value of the catering and kitchen part of the contract.
Kitchequip has been providing an extensive range of catering equipment and supplies to the market for almost 20 years. Its customer base includes universities, councils, NHS Trusts and bluechip companies.
Installations, repairs and servicing are carried out by Kitchequip’s sister company Catering Services & Installations (CSI).
