Inka Charcoal Ovens has signed an agreement giving Ali Group-owned distributor Metos the rights to market its product in a number of international territories.
Under the terms of the deal, Finland-based Metos will have the exclusive distribution licence in nine countries across northern Europe, Russia and Benelux.
Inka launched its charcoal ovens in the UK at the beginning of last year, and recently shifted production from Spain to the UK. The company claims the improved build quality and supply chain control it has gained from this move has helped facilitate the agreement with Metos.
As Metos can offer an established route to market, Inka believes it will be able to develop brand awareness and interest in the indoor charcoal oven concept abroad quicker than it would be able to on its own.
Franco Sotgiu, managing director of Inka, said: “Metos are a massive company, and as part of the Ali Group it doesn’t come any bigger. They have extensive experience of their markets and a comprehensive understanding of the sector and, most importantly, are covering markets that are crucial to our long-term international expansion.”
Sami Kuparinen, wholesale director at Metos, said there was a big opportunity for charcoal ovens in the European markets it covers.
“After visiting the UK factory, we were extremely impressed with the manufacturing process and build quality and were very much attracted by Inka’s drive for superior design and their ambition for growth,” he stated. “We firmly believe that the Inka will be as popular on the continent as it has been in the UK.”
While the UK market remains Inka’s main focus, Sotigu says that overseas expansion is a key part of the company’s growth plan.
“This represents the first of a number of big deals we’re negotiating. After recently selling a number of units in the UAE, we are also in early stage discussions with two distributors in the Middle East and UAE, where interest in the Inka oven is building rapidly.”
